California's Young Child Tax Credit can give taxpayers thousands in refunds

In 2019, the State of California introduced the Young Child Tax Credit for California tax returns. In 2020, Californians can claim the Young Child Tax Credit on their returns. The Young Child Tax Credit can be claimed by parents with children under 6 years of age. This credit can increase Californians tax refunds up to $1,000. The taxpayer must qualify for California's Earned Income Tax Credit to qualify and receive the Young Child Tax Credit.
To claim the California's Earned Income Tax Credit, a taxpayer must meet the following:
Taxpayer must be at least 18 years of age;
Taxpayer must have a social security number; and
Taxpayer's income must be $30,000 or less.
If qualified, a taxpayer can earn up to $3,982 with both California Earned Income Credit and Young Child Tax Credit.
